H/T to The Other Donald for bringing this story to our attention. There’s a Romanian performance artist who lives in Orlando, Florida. His name is Veniamin and sometimes people call him The Human Slinky. Now, “The Human Slinky” has been seen recently in print (Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Prepare To Be Shocked), television (David Letterman, America’s Got Talent, Britain’s Got Talent, The View, etc), and through touring (Sea World and even a cruise that Dr. D was on). But now it seems that Veniamin has decided to sell his human slinky costume on eBay. But not only that – the winning bidder gets permission to perform on stage with the costume for the next 5 years. The catch? It’s a cool $1 million dollars. (source: Daily Mail)

The human slinky act, which has been around for over 10 years now, won the Walt Disney Special Prize at the 24th International Circus-Festival of Monte-Carlo in January, 2000.

Veniamin also won “Most Original Act” at the 3rd World Festival of Circus in Moscow in 2007, and “Best Variety Act” at the Hollywood Best New Talent Awards in 2008.
No word on why the human slinky is selling his costume. But we figure that after a decade of performances, Veniamin is ready to move on to other things. By the way, check out his extremely retro web site, which gives the impression that it hasn’t been updated in 10 years!
You can check out the listing for the human slinky costume here. 10% of the sale goes to the American Cancer Society.
