Dynamix II: The Album (1990)

Dynamix II: The Album

Miami’s David Noller and Scott Weiser, under the name Dynamix II, are electro-bass and breaks pioneers who dropped the dance anthem “Just give the DJ A Break.” Dynamix II: The Album, has that track and also amazing bass-heavy electronic tunes like Ignition , Bass Generator, and Don’t Touch That Dial. Check out The Arrival of Bass, which samples The Day the Earth Stood Still, and Ignition, which samples 2010: The Year We Make Contact.

Techmaster P.E.B. – Bass Computer (1991)

Techmaster P.E.B. - Bass Computer

Patrick Baker ran a little store in Sarasota called City Sounds. Then he released a bunch of bass CDs under different monikers, but the most famous was Techmaster P.E.B. Bass Computer is made for one reason and one reason only: to give you as much bass as possible for as long as possible. Any track off this CD will blow you through the windshield. Newtown Music no longer exists, but the Bass is forever…

DJ BassBoy – I Got the Bass (1992)

DJ BassBoy - I Got the Bass

Pat’s other famous alternate identity next to Techmaster PEB. Unlike Techmaster PEB, which was more straight electro/bass stuff, Bassboy has more fun with samples. For example: Blinded by the Bass samples Blinded by the Light, the first track Rebel Bass starts out with a Star Wars sample (“Where is the rebel base?”). Huge. Note: the song I embedded here “I Got the Bass” is actually the original version, that has tons of samples in it. The CD version that’s out there now has a lot less samples in it because of copyright issues.

MC A.D.E. – How Much Can You Take (1989)

MC A.D.E. - How Much Can You Take

One of the first bass CDs I was ever exposed to. Probably the first time I discovered that people made music strictly to give subwoofers a workout. Key tracks: Da Train, Sex, Crime, Drugs, Hit Harder, and How Much Can You Take? (which samples the theme from Halloween).

DJ Magic Mike – Bass Is the Name of the Game (1990)

DJ Magic Mike - Bass is the Name of the Game

This is Orlando-based DJ Magic Mike’s second album, and it ramps up the bass even more than his first release. Key tracks here are Lower the Dynamite, Feel the Bass Again, and Drop the Bass Part 2 (which got radio play down here). Play this in your neighborhood at 3am. Go ahead, they love it when you do that.
