Sports fans in the United States are set to enjoy a stellar summer, with numerous top class events scheduled to take place there over the coming months.
Whether you’re a fan of soccer, golf, ice hockey or something else, there is a plethora of upcoming sporting action worth watching.

Motor racing – Indianapolis 500 – May 26
When an event is billed as ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing’ you know you’re guaranteed to be watching something really special at the Indianapolis 500.
Commonly known as the Indy 500, the race is considered part of the Triple Crown of Motorsport, which also comprises the Monaco Grand Prix and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
All eyes will be on Fernando Alonso this year as he bids to join Graham Hill as the only driver to complete the Triple Crown.

Ice Hockey – Stanley Cup Finals – May/June
The historic Stanley Cup is widely recognised as one of the most entertaining events in sport, with winning teams etching their names into professional hockey folklore.
The series sees the winners of the Eastern and Western Conferences battling in a best-of-seven series to determine the season champions.
Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes have reached the Eastern Conference final this year, with the former fancied to progress.
St Louis Blues have made it through to the Western Conference final, where they will face either San Jose Sharks or Colorado Avalanche.
Basketball – NBA Finals – May/June
The NBA Finals is the concluding series of the National Basketball Association (NBA) season, with the winners of the Eastern and Western Conferences playing a best-of-seven game series to decide the title.
Eight teams remain in the running to win the 2019 crown, including reigning champions Golden State Warriors. They must overcome Houston Rockets to reach the Eastern Conference final, where they would face either Toronto Raptors or Philadelphia 76ers.
The Warriors have reached the NBA Finals in each of the last four seasons, winning the prestigious title on three occasions to take their tally to 10 overall.
Milwaukee Bucks are well-placed to defeat Boston Celtics in their Western Conference semi-final, while Denver Nuggets lead Portland Trail Blazers in their tie.
Golf – US Open Championship – June 13-16
The US Open is the third of the four major championships in golf, joining the Masters Tournament, PGA Championship and British Open at the pinnacle of the sport.
First played in 1895, the event has been won mostly by players from the US. Brooks Koepka has won the tournament for the last two years, but he faces a tough battle to make it a hat-trick in 2019.
Tiger Woods will be going all out to win his fourth US Open after returning to the top of the sport with victory at the Masters earlier this year.
His triumph at Augusta has been billed as one of the finest comeback stories in sporting history, with the 43-year-old bouncing back from personal issues and injuries to win his 15th major. Woods last won the US Open in 2008 and a success at Pebble Beach would further add to his legendary status in the game of golf.
