Remi Landau – Simple Tricks To Support Your Mental Wellbeing During Lockdown

posted by Chris Valentine

During the last 6 months we have all been going through a very difficult time and there is no question about the fact that being enclosed for such a long time has had a negative impact on the mental wellbeing of many of us. Despite things easing up slightly in recent months it does look as though we are going to be imposing something of a second lockdown in many places around the world again. Should this happen it is essential that you pay attention to he advice from health experts like Remi Landau who have been speaking out about the importance of looking after your mental wellbeing during these strange times.

Physical Exercise

Whilst physical exercise is not the cure to any mental health issues you have, with regards to your general mental wellbeing,  it can do a great deal for you. Being in great shape gives you a bounce, feel good chemicals and it also gives you confidence, all of which can be a great remedy to boost your mental wellbeing.

Meditation

Meditation may conjure up images of Tibetan monks going into deep states but this is a practice that can actually work for everyone. All you need to do is set 15 minutes apart per day, take a seat and close your eyes, then take deep breaths and try to focus your mind on the body and how it moves. After a short while you will find that you are able to disappear completely. You will be amazed at what this can do for your mental wellbeing.

Positive List

Improving your mental wellbeing is not always about grand gestures and in reality you can certainly do this in some very simple ways. One such way is to begin writing down a list of 3 positive things each morning. Make sure that you do not repeat yesterdays positives. This will encourage you to look for the bright things in life from the start of your day and to focus on those. This may sound like something which will not have a big impact but it has been proven time and time again to help people feel happier and more optimistic.

Social Media

The truth about social media is that it is not good at all for your mental wellbeing and if you are not able to control your time on there then you may want to think about stepping away for a short while. Numerous studies have found that social media gives many of us anxiety issues and causes a great deal of mental wellbeing problems too. You may think that it is enjoyable but the fact is that it is causing more damage to your mental wellbeing than you may understand.

The larger point here is making sure that you are aware of your mental wellbeing and that you are on top of the situation, and taking steps if you don’t feel great. Keep going, you are going to be fine.
