Clint Eastwood’s daughter Francesca Eastwood and her boyfrined Tyler Shields (a professional photographer) have decided to destroy expensive things for art. It started with a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes, which are apparently very tough. Shields explains that it required 7 saws and 20 minutes worth of drilling to destroy the shoes, which were set on fire for good measure. The price of the pair of Louboutins was not mentioned but a quick look on the net suggests they are anywhere from $500 to $1,000. Shields ends his post with the Tyler Durden-like phrase “Never let an object own you.”
The shoes were just a warm-up. Now Francesca Eastwood and Tyler Shields set their sights on a red crocodile Birkin handbag worth about $100,000, we believe. With a chainsaw and some gasoline, the expensive bag is destroyed, as Shields exclaims “Destruction is a beautiful version of freedom.”
The act has made a lot of people angry. Twitter reactions sampled here:
“Some of us actually have to work and live check 2 check, spoiled rotten b*tch to burn 100k bag.”
“You should kill urself, ungrateful b*tch – wasted money when families can’t eat.”
“Burning a $100K purse is not art. It’s self-indulgent, wasteful, lazy, showing off.”
And so on.

Burning wealth for art is not new. The K-Foundation already made the ultimate statement by burning 1,000,000 pounds back in the 90s. After you’ve witnessed that kind of act, burning up a handbag and pair of shoes just doesn’t seem to measure up.
