Body Pain

50 million Americans suffer from chronic pain. That’s just over 20% of the population. Approximately 20 million of these adults suffer from “high-impact chronic pain”, meaning that it can limit life or work activities.

Dealing with chronic pain can feel like a job in itself and is a difficult hurdle to jump on a daily basis. Taking over the counter medicines or prescribed pharmaceuticals regularly can also have a negative impact on our immune systems.

So, are you suffering from pain but don’t want to take ibuprofen or Tylenol? Try one of these all-natural home remedies for body pain.

Ginger

Ginger is a powerful anti-inflammatory which can sometimes be more effective than ibuprofen for pain relief. Anti-inflammatory drugs have been revealed to block the formation of inflammatory compounds in our bodies.

Ginger is a great natural pain remedy for joint pain and muscle aches. Not only that it also aids in relieving nausea, heartburn, motion sickness, and indigestion.

Ginger can be taken in a supplement or simply grated and added to a cup of tea. Ingesting just 2 grams of ginger per day can reduce muscle pain.

Magnesium

Magnesium supplements can be bought affordably over the counter in any pharmacy. You can simply add them to your morning vitamin regime. Magnesium curbs the pains of muscle spasms, migraines, and fibromyalgia.

Even including more sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds in your diet can increase your magnesium intake just enough to add in relief for body pain.

Fish Oil

Another anti-inflammatory supplement is fish oil. Taking 1200 milligrams per day of fish oil supplements can be more than enough to show a vast increase in your pain management, making it easier and more manageable.

After 75 days of ingesting fish oil on a daily basis, you’re guaranteed to feel the great results. You may even feel the need to ease off on your prescription medication.

Turmeric

Turmeric is found in spicy foods, mostly in Indian cuisine. Aside from assisting in making a great curry, turmeric boasts amazing anti-inflammatory properties.

Not only is turmeric ingestible through your diet, but there are supplements available as well. Mostly because nobody wants to eat curry every, single day to make sure they’re getting their daily intake!

Turmeric provides relief for joint injuries and arthritis.

An interesting way to get your daily intake is to create a tea of cinnamon, nutmeg, turmeric, honey, cayenne pepper, and coconut milk.

Heat Therapy

Heat therapy is a great home remedy for pain relief which doesn’t involve ingesting anything. Easily do-able with items that you have lying around the house to cope with those cold winter nights.

A simple hot bath can relax both the mind and the body. Not only that but if you have a joint or muscle injury, making yourself a hot water bottle and having it rest on the affected area for as short as 15 minutes can relieve your pain.

It’s important to know when to use heat therapy, and when to go the cold route though.

An acute injury (specific impact or traumatic event that occurs in one specific area of the body) should be treated with ice as soon as possible, and not heat. For example, if you injure yourself and the area is painful and swollen, heat therapy will increase the blood flow and in turn increase the swelling.

Heat therapy should only be used in areas that are affected by lingering and long-lasting pain.

Cloves and Garlic

Cloves have been used over history to relieve pain from toothache rather successfully. As opposed to rubbing medicinal gels on the affected area, chopping up a clove and massaging it with your fingertip into the painful area will relieve pain almost instantly.

Cloves are infamous for having antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antifungal uses.

It’s possible to purchase clove oils as well, should you not want to deal with the chopping and mashing.

Garlic is also a powerful spice that can be found on the shelf in your pantry. It boasts antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral effects. You can also use it to combat toothache for a temporary solution.

Essential Oils

Essential oils are so easily attainable and extremely affordable. Rubbing chamomile, sage or lavender onto your temples, sore joints or chest can relax your muscles almost instantaneously.

Peppermint oil has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects. You can use diluted peppermint oil and rub it on the area that feels achy to relieve the body pain.

Rosemary oil is another essential oil that can relieve pain. Rosemary can be used to treat bone pain and headaches successfully. It also reduces inflammation and helps to relax muscles. You can dilute rosemary oil into olive oil for easier ingestion.

Lavender essential oils can also assist in pain relief in the natural way. It aids in sleeping well, easing anxiety and pain relief.

Not only that but essential oils can also be used for aromatherapy which can aid in relieving stress and often calm the root of the pain.

Epsom Salts

Epsom salts are a great natural remedy for body pain. Simply add half a cup of Epsom salts to a bowl of warm water and soak the affected area for a minimum of 15 minutes.

If the area of your body that is in pain is too large for a bowl of warm water, then run a hot bath and add two cups of Epsom salts. Grab a great book and soak your body for 15 minutes. You’ll feel great afterward.

Green Tea

Green tea is recognized as an anti-inflammatory agent. 2 to 3 cups of unsweetened green tea per day will do the trick.

Remember though, that green tea still has caffeine so it may be worthwhile to go in search of the decaffeinated option so you don’t have any sleepless nights!

CBD Oil

There is a compound in the marijuana plant that allows CBD oil to be used as an alternative to pain medication. It’s typically used to treat common conditions such as ongoing back pain and arthritis.

CBD oil is not psychoactive which means that it does not create a “high” or change your state of mind, but if you’re concerned about your intake then read more info

However, if taken correctly and in the right dosages, CBD oil can be a great home remedy for managing your body pain.

Hemp is another natural remedy considered to be an alternative to CBD oil and aids in living a healthy lifestyle.

Combat Your Body Pain

Chronic pain is not easy to combat on a daily basis. Along with home and herbal remedies, there are other daily changes you can make to aid in pain relief.

Consider starting easy daily exercises to limber up, learn to stretch the affected area and what types of exercise you’re able to perform. A good diet also aids in pain relief, too much alcohol and caffeine can cause headaches and other painful symptoms so managing your diet carefully is always a good idea.
