Writing an Original Research Paper like a Pro

posted by Chris Valentine

Writing a research paper is a challenging task for more than one reason. First of all, you need to come up with a good idea, a topic that hasn’t been done to death already. Second, coming up with useful research data takes time. Finally, once you have everything you need in place, you need to pay attention to the structure and style of your research paper. For instance, you can decide to write about topics like “Is global warming a myth?”, but that’s a poor way to do it. A better way to formulate it would be to ask “Is there significant scientific evidence to suggest a correlation between global warming and our way of life?” Simple, right?

Yes, but when you are in middle of writing your research paper, that doesn’t seem so obvious. What can you do then? Well, you can buy a research paper in order to see how it’s done, or you can roll up your sleeves and apply some of the following tips.

  1. Sources and Literature

Fortunately for you, these days, you don’t have to spend days at your local library doing research, because there are plenty of quality research sources available online when you need to write a research paper. But, you will have a problem with sifting through mountains of data, lots of which won’t be relevant to your paper. To make that process shorter, focus on those sources whose abstracts and/or conclusions fit your topic. Also, check out the sources page for every relevant paper you have come across, because someone else might have already done your research for you. That’s the best research paper help you can hope for.

  1. Notes and Outline

Once you have your topics for research paper in order, choose the best one, and start writing your outline. Every time you think of an idea, or you come across an interesting piece of information that supports your arguments or meaningful quote, write them down, because you might get an idea about the order in which you will present them.

As far as the structure of the outline itself, traditional always works well:

  • Write the introduction,
  • Explain the methodology
  • Present your findings
  • Discuss them
  • Mention the limitations
  • Write the conclusion and provide recommendations
  1. Structure

You should always to stick to a specific structure when writing your research paper, because it can make your findings seem even more convincing. Here what every good research paper should contain:

  • Introduction – this will provide the reader with some background about your paper and explain what you are researching and why.
  • Methods – In this section, you should explain how you’ve conducted your research, as well as mention all the methods and tools you have used, so that the reader can replicate the results if needed.
  • Results – Here is where you present your findings, and provide all the data that supports them.
  • Discussion – Once you have your results and all the necessary data, you need to interpret it in a way that will shed some new light onto the subject of your research.
  1. Format

Not all research papers are the same. If you are writing one that need to adhere to a particular style of the journal, you need to make sure that you’ve followed all of the rules and guidelines. Fortunately, for nearly every style out there, there is book or a guide on it. It’s can be time-consuming and boring, but in the end, you will have a proper research paper that will have a significant impact in the scientific community.

After all the time and hard work you’ve into your paper, it’s a shame not to let it shine due to poor structure, formatting, and writing. With these tips, you will be able to write excellent research papers, time and time again.
