5 Essentials of a Doomsday Prepping List

posted by Chris Valentine

It’s the end of the world— but do you feel fine?

No one wants to think about a disaster, government breakdown, or disease that could threaten our lives as we know them. But, anything is possible. Are you prepared?

If you’re thinking about prepping, great choice. Prepping is the best possible way to become more self-reliant and ensure you’re prepared for anything that might happen.

If you’re ready to put together a doomsday prepping list, you may be wondering which items are most important. If so, keep reading to learn the top five essentials for any prepper.

1. Long-Lasting Food Sources

When making a prepping list, food is one of the most important items. You don’t know how long you’ll have to wait inside in case of an emergency, so you need food that can last a long time.

Look for canned goods, powdered milk, coffee, tea, cooking oils, and protein bars that can last as long as you need them to.

If you have access to sunlight, also purchase plants or seeds for growing your own vegetables and herbs.

2. Water Tank

As humans, we can only last 3-4 days without water. Therefore, access to clean drinking water should be number one on your prepper supplies list.

Although you can keep water in gallon jugs, by far the most efficient way to store water is with a water tank. You need a large supply of water to keep you and your family healthy, so install your tank as soon as you can.

If you’re in the market for a water tank—take a look at this.

3. First-Aid

When you’re in survival mode, it may not be easy to access your local doctor or hospital service. Instead, make sure you have a comprehensive first-aid kit.

Your kit should include bandages, all medications you take normally, tweezers, antibiotics, splints, antiseptic cream, tourniquets, and breathing masks, in case of poor air quality.

If you’re not confident with first-aid, take a course so you safely know what to do in an emergency.

4. Fire Starters

You can live on canned food for a long time, but it may not be very enjoyable if it’s cold.

When thinking about prepping, you need to make sure you’re able to start fire. This could be from matches, fire-starting kits, or otherwise. Or, if you have a portable generator, you can use your kitchen appliances for cooking.

Make sure you know how to safely start a fire. This can help with cooking, staying warm, and drawing attention, in case you need to be spotted quickly for emergency help.

5. Self-Defense

Self-defense is always a last resort. However, you do want to think about what self-defense items you want for your prepping shopping list.

Firearms should only be used for those who are properly trained, but you can also protect your home with body armor, spray gas, or barbed wire.

What’s on Your Doomsday Prepping List?

We hope we never need it, but being prepared is always the best thing to do in case of an emergency.

Make sure you include the above on your doomsday prepping list, giving you and your family the best chance of success in case of a natural disaster or worldwide pandemic.

Over time, build up your prepping kit, so it’ll be ready if you ever need it.
