1. Selective-Color Edit

A selective-color edit can make a powerful image if done in the correct way. This edit makes the whole photo appear black and white, except for one focal point which remains in color. This helps draw the eye into the subject of the photo and provides a unique edit.

To start, you’ll want to duplicate the image layers in your editing program. Then, using the saturation tool, you’ll desaturate the background image of all colors.

Select the layer that remains unedited and navigate to the Color Range tool. From there, use the eyedropper tool to select the color tones that you want to remain. Keep in mind, that while your subject may appear all one tone, there are likely several tones of the same color due to highlights and shadows.

Once you select your tones and hit okay, you’ll want to inverse your selection. Then, press Delete and all the color aspects of the photo except your subject will be removed.

2. Mirror, Mirror

Using a simple mirror effect is an easy way to make a dramatic edit on your photo.

The easiest way to do this is to find a mirror images online tool. Upload your image and click the Flip option until the photo is facing the direction you desire. Then, save the newly edited photo.

To make this edit fun, consider how you can place the same image mirroring itself for an interesting effect. One of the photo manipulation examples includes you dramatically posing with your hands reaching out in front of your body. Then, after mirroring the image once, you can put the two images into one canvas facing each other.

Keep in mind, that you can also use the mirror tool to change the orientation of the photo.

3. Double Exposure

Double exposures used to be a drastic mistake in film days but now it’s a fun photo alteration.

To achieve this look, first, place two different images on top of each other in your editing program. Then, set the top photo’s Blend mode to Screen. Finally, reduce the opacity setting to a percentage where you can clearly see both photos.

Some of the best examples of this include using a landscape as your background image with a portrait as your opaque image.
