1980 was a turning point, not just in American politics but urban music as well. It was that weird transitional period between disco and punk music of the late 70s, and house, R&B, electro, new wave, and "power-pop" of the early-to-mid 80s.

  1. This is really super, Billy… How many of these ya got?

  2. Bill says:

I have most of these in digital formats of some kind (either CD audio or mp3s). I wouldn’t mind having vinyl releases… I’m going to check out the local store this weekend and see what they have.

  3. Kano’s “Its A War” was not sampled in Tag Team “There It Is” it was Kano’s “Im Ready”.

I am looking for a song that came out during this time. I don’t know the name or artist but it was a instramental/electronica song with an Asian sound. I was popular at the same time that Funkytown(lipps Inc) was being played. I don’t know if this will help but it was played mostly on Detroit POP-R&B stations between the years of 1978-82. I am sorry that I can’t give anymore info than that but that is all I an several of my friends have to work with. Thanks for any help

    Rochelle,

I found a song that might fit that description. It’s “The Sound of Music” by Dayton and it came out around 1983/1984. See:
