Japanese photographer Haruhiko Kawaguchi has created a new art project involving real couples that he has met in nightclubs. He has photographed about 80 couples arranged inside storage bags meant for blankets, and seals them inside using a vacuum which sucks all the air out. The project is called Flesh Love, and yes, you can call them “vacuum sealed couples.”

Obvously, Haruhiko Kawaguchi can only photograph them in this position for about 10 to 20 seconds, since there is great risk of suffocation. Interestingly, he said that the men panic more than the women during the shoot.
Project Flesh Love, aims to “keep love fresh” by displaying couples like “packaged meat bought from the supermarket.” Click the thumbnails below for more views of Kawaguchi’s “Vacuum Sealed Couples.”
Perhaps love can really last forever, given the right packaging and amount of preservatives.
