France wants a new theme park to compete with Disneyland, and it may be Napoleonland. Yves Jégo, a former French minister, came up with the idea. Now he just needs £180 million to make it happen.

Napoleonland is planned to be located on the site where the Battle of Montereau took place. (In 1814, Napoleon Bonaparte won a major victory there against the Austrians). Also planned for the theme park is a recreation of the Battle of Waterloo, the famous battle in 1815 where Napoleon got pwned, and the Battle of Trafalgar, the 1805 sea battle where Napoleon’s forces got pwned by Lord Nelson. Kinda strange to create an amusement park in honor of a guy and then recreate his defeats, but hey, whatever floats your baguette.

The park will have a museum, hotel, restaurants, and shops. In addition:

Other curious potential attractions include a ski run through a battlefield “surrounded by the frozen bodies of soldiers and horses” and a recreation of Louis XVI being guillotined during the revolution – the precursor to Napoleon’s rise to power. “It’s going to be fun for the family,” he Mr Jégo told the Times.

Fun! Rolling heads and frozen corpses… little Jean-Pierre would much rather be exposed to that then Harry Potter or some stupid American mouse!

Mr Jégo hopes that construction work can start in 2014, with a planned opening of Napoleonland sometime in 2017.

We recommend they hire this guy to play Napoleon (oh, and put in a bowling alley too):

… and an ice cream parlor.

H/T to Alyx for the story!
