Mexico’s most wanted man, “El Chapo” (or “Shorty”) runs the Sinaloa cartel, which is one of the biggest suppliers of cocain to the USA. He was arrested in 1993 and was going to be extradited to the US but escaped in 2001 from a Mexican federal prison before that could happen. His escape was interesting and simple – he hid inside a laundry cart. El Chapo is an expert at making tunnels, which he has utilized to bring billions of dollars worth of drugs to the United States. The US government offers a reward of $5 million dollars for his capture.
Since the killing of Osama Bin Laden, “El Chapo” has now become #1 on the world’s most wanted list. (source: Guardian)
Forbes Magazine says that the D.E.A. now considers Loera the “biggest drug lord ever” and believes that his influence has surpassed that of Pablo Escobar. Except El Chapo not only exports cocaine, but also pot, meth, heroin – and not just to the USA but also Asia and Europe. A DEA official calls him the “godfather of the drug world.” Welcome to the global economy!
Currently, Loera is believed to be hiding somewhere in the Sierra Madre mountains.
