Top 10 Best Sci Fi Movies You Don’t Know About

10. The Man Who Fell To Earth (1976)

Weird movie concerning an alien (David Bowie) who comes to earth to find water for his planet. He eventually becomes corrupted by the hedonistic lifestyle of earthlings. The aliens would have been better off blasting us in Independence-Day fashion. If you try to live as a human all sneaky-like, we’ll break you.

9. Timecrimes (2007)

Decent time travel movie about a guy who just wants to take a peek at a girl in the forest with his binoculars. Big mistake – soon, he’s sucked into a time travel paradox and he’ll have to play along, otherwise – well, that’s unclear, actually. But maybe an interesting commentary on fate.

8. Phase IV (1974)

Not the 4th movie in a series; this is a nice sleeper about super-intelligent ants against a small community in the desert. Not your typical monster movie, this is brainy and has an ambiguous, thougtful ending.

7. Quatermass & The Pit (1967)

This sci fi movie you may not know about also goes by the name Five Million Years To Earth. It’s an awesome low-budget British chiller about alien insect-like beings buried beneath the earth and excavated from the subway. Has interesting ideas – aliens have been here before, they’ve seeded the human race, they can control minds, etc.. Think Proto-X-Files, with a British bent.

6. Pi (1998)

Awesome black-and-white debut from Darren Aronofsky (who had previously done some short films) about a crazy genuis who just might be a step from knowing the mind of God. As he tries to figure out the patterns in what appears to be simple chaos (stock market), people start chasing him, religious groups want him for some reason, and he starts having messed up visions.
