Ronaldo involved in altercation with transvestites:

AC Milan striker Ronaldo was questioned by police after an altercation with transvestites in a Rio de Janeiro motel on Monday. Ronaldo accused one of the transvestites of trying to extort him.

The altercation began when Ronaldo found out he was dealing with transvestites instead of women. Ronaldo admitted he knew they were prostitutes when they met on Sunday night, but did not realize they were transvestites until they got to the motel. Prostitution is not illegal in Brazil.

The striker told police he offered to pay the transvestites anyway, but before he left one of them allegedly asked for 50,000 reals ($A32,000) to hide the story from the media. The transvestite also accused Ronaldo of asking him to buy drugs. In a statement to TV Globo, Ronaldo reiterated he was a victim of extortion and denied he has ever used drugs.

Ronaldo has won two World Cups with Brazil, including the in 2002 when he scored eight goals, including two in the final against Germany.

Ronaldo has lost a lucrative endorsement deal with mobile phone company TIM in the wake of this week’s scandal. TIM canceled a contract worth US $4.8million as the deal included a clause which allowed the company to unilaterally end the deal if Ronaldo was involved in negative publicity.

According to reports in Brazil, Nike are reviewing a lifetime endorsement deal with Ronaldo worth around US $100million.

Now that surgeons have operated on Stacey Gayle’s brain, her favorite musician no longer makes her ill. Four years after being diagnosed with epilepsy, Gayle recently underwent brain surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center to cure a rare condition known as musicogenic epilepsy.

Gayle began to suspect that music by reggae and hip-hop artist Sean Paul was triggering some of her seizures. She recalled being at a barbecue and collapsing when the Jamaican rapper’s music started playing. Her suspicions were confirmed on a visit to the Long Island medical center last February, when she played Paul’s hit “Temperature” on her iPod for doctors. Soon after, she suffered three seizures.

During the first surgery, doctors implanted more than 100 electrodes in the right side of her brain to pinpoint the abnormal area of her brain. The surgeons followed that procedure with a second surgery to remove the electrodes, along with parts of her brain suspected of causing the seizures. Within three days, the woman was released from the hospital and has not experienced a seizure since.

The mother of hip-hop mogul Kanye West died following a “cosmetic procedure” in Los Angeles this weekend

Patricia Green, the publicist for Dr. Donda West, did not give details about the procedure or exactly what the cause of death was. West died Saturday at the age of 58.

Earlier this year, she released a book she co-authored called “Raising Kanye: Life Lessons From the Mother of a Hip-Hop Superstar.”

West retired from her post as professor and chair of the English Department at Chicago State University in 2004 to become her son’s manager.

Doctors in India have successfully operated on a 2-year-old girl born with four arms, four legs and extra internal organs. A team of around 30 medics removed what amounted to Lakshmi Tatma’s headless identical twin sister who was joined at the pelvis and who did not develop and separate properly in the womb - an extremely rare case. The headless “twin” had its own spinal column and kidney. “It went very well,” said Mamta Patil, a doctor involved in the surgery at Sparsh Hospital in Bangalore in south India.

Lakshmi, named after the four-armed Hindu goddess of wealth, was expected to be in the operating theatre for 40 hours, but the surgery was over after 27. Lakshmi was born in a poverty-stricken region of Bihar, India - on the day devoted to the celebration of the four-armed Hindu deity Vishnu. Her mother Poonam Tatma said she believed her daughter was “a miracle, a reincarnation” of Vishnu.
