Anna Nicole Smith’s bodyguard has reportedly suffered a heart attack and stroke. Big Moe, whose real name is Maurice Brighthaupt, had a ‘mild heart attack and stroke’ and his ‘blood pressure is still sky high,’ a source claims. The insider adds that Anna Nicole’s death and investigation is ‘destroying him.’

Brighthaupt was Anna Nicole’s bodyguard for four years and served as a pallbearer at her funeral. He and his wife found Anna Nicole in her hotel room on the day she died. Brighthaupt was the one who dialed 911 and tried to revive her.

HarperEntertainment announced that it will publish a book about Anna Nicole Smith’s life and death, to be written by Smith’s bodyguard Moe Brighthaupt.

The book is said to offer “a candid look at Smith’s ability to manipulate men, her depression after the death of her son, her drug abuse, bisexuality and relationship with female celebrities, and her feuds with fellow reality-TV stars.”

Brighthaupt, known as “Big Moe,” is a former college basketball star and firefighter who worked for Smith from 2003 until her death earlier this year.

Entitled “Baby Girl,” the book will be co-written with Kenji Jasper, a journalist and author of both fiction and nonfiction titles.

Days after an investigation was opened into the death of the former Playboy playmate Anna Nicole Smith, Big Moe tells Access Hollywood he feels betrayed by Howard K. Stern.

‘It’s gotten to the point where I had to say something. I’ve been called a thief and that angers me. . . . I’ve been harassed by [Howard’s attorney] Lin Wood and Howard.. sending letters, sending threatening letters.’ Once singing praises for Howard K. Stern, Anna Nicole’s longtime bodyguard Big Moe, now claims Stern is launching a smear campaign against him.

Last week, Stern appeared on the ‘Larry King Live’ show alongside Lin Wood. Moe claims Stern insinuated he leaked recently released photos of Anna Nicole Smith, including one where she appeared to have vomit dripping down her chin. ‘He’s gotten on TV [and] called me a thief and a liar,’ Moe said. ‘[He said he] knew I was distributing pictures that should have never been taken in the first place of Anna.

The year is 1987. Vickie Smith has been married to Jim’s Krispy cook Billy Wayne for 2 years. Their son Daniel Wayne is one year old when they separate. Vicki moves to Houston, Texas, taking Daniel Wayne with her.

She starts out working for Wal-Mart, then waiting tables at Red Lobster. It was then that she got into exotic dancing. At this time, Vickie Smith was about 5′ 11″ tall with dimensions 36A-25-37. It was also around this time that she met oil billionaire J. Howard Marshall. The bar she was dancing at was called Rick’s Cabaret and she went by the monikers “Miss Nikki” and “Robin”.

When Eric Redding learned about the autopsy report that indicated Anna Nicole Smith died of an accidental drug overdose, he wasn’t surprised. “She popped pills so much, you had no idea what she was taking most of the time,” he said. “She was a hypochondriac. Any kind of little pain, she would take a pill. She loved Valium. She loved Xanax. I used to carry a little black bag when we would go on assignments. She had 20 different medications.”

In 1991, Redding and his wife, D’eva, discovered Vickie Lynn.

“She was an insecure, overweight woman who could barely write a sentence. It took her more than an hour to fill out a simple biographical form.” But there was something magical about her when she stepped in front of a camera. “It was like she was sent from God,” Redding recalled. “She never took a bad picture.”

The Houston-based couple wrote about their experiences with Smith in a book called Great Big Beautiful Doll: The Anna Nicole Smith Story. Coincidentally, an updated edition arrived in bookstores the day after Smith unexpectedly died last month.

As longtime scouts for Playboy magazine, the Reddings first met Smith when she responded to their ad seeking women with centerfold potential. Even though Smith wore virtually no makeup and her hair was in pigtails, D’eva took one look and said, “You have the most beautiful face I’ve ever seen.”

Eric photographed Smith and sent the test shots to a Playboy rep. Within a few days, the magazine flew Smith to Los Angeles for more photographs.

Hugh Hefner chose her to appear on the cover of Playboy March 1992, wearing a low-cut evening gown. In May 1992 she was the centerfold. Smith was named Playmate of the Year in 1993.By that time, she had changed her name from Vicki to to Anna Nicole.

SMITH: Anna Nicole came from Guess Jeans, Paul Marciano and me and one of his friends we were sitting around coming up with a stage name, and that’s where that came from.

For two years, Redding and his wife managed Smith’s career, although he likens it to being a “baby sitter.” Even then, there was a constant problem with alcohol and drugs. Redding said he tried to get Smith to stop, but she refused.

“I’d go, ‘Honey, you don’t need to be mixing those things,’ but she wouldn’t listen. She was headstrong,” he said. “But you couldn’t help but like her. She was a little girlish.”
“We were concerned,” D’eva said. “But she didn’t want a parent.”

Their business relationship ended when Smith moved to California from Houston in 1993; Redding insists they remained friends until her companion, Howard K. Stern, intervened several years ago. She was actually very insecure, which most beautiful women are. That’s probably why she and Howard got along because he was reassuring to her. He controlled her life,” said Redding. He last spoke to Smith two years ago. “Once Howard Stern came long, he didn’t even let her talk to her own mother. If you were a family member or too close, Howard didn’t want you around,” Redding said.

In May of 1994, Maria Antonia Cerrato, 23 at the time and Smith’s housekeeper/nanny, sued her for $2 million, charging sexual assault and sexual harassment. After losing a default judgement against her, she filed for bankruptcy. (the case was later settled)

Thirteen months after his marriage to Smith, Marshall died on August 4, 1995, in Houston. the ensuing court battle over his estate, which involved Smith and James Howard Marshall III (both of whom were not mentioned in the will) and E. Pierce Marshall, who was left the bulk of J. Howard Marshall’s assets. The case has resulted in several judicial decisions that have gone for and against Smith, eventually making its way into federal court. At one point Smith was awarded $474 million, and then $89 million, far short of J. Marshall’s $1.6 billion fortune. (At one point, the US Supreme Court was involved, eventually passing a unanimous decision in 2006 that Smith had a right to pursue a share of the estate in federal court).

2007 Update:

Birkhead emerged from a closed court hearing to announce the results. Smith’s companion, Howard K. Stern, has been caring for the girl, Dannielynn, who could inherit a fortune in the wake of her mother’s February death. After the hearing, Stern said he would not fight for custody. An expert in genetic evidence said the DNA analysis has proven Birkhead is Dannielynn’s father. Dr. Michael Baird, who analyzed the results of a March 21 DNA test, announced the results outside the court. “Essentially, he’s the biological father,” Baird said. A jubilant Birkhead said “My baby’s going to be coming home pretty soon.”

HOWARD K. STERN TRIED TO MURDER ME WITH MORHINE SULPHATE TABS

MARCH 25, 2007, COALINGA, CA. These words are among the harsh accusations made by Mark “Hollywood” Hatten in a taped interview he gave from Pleasant Valley State Prison in Coalinga, Ca. on March 11, 2007. Hatten, who is currently incarcerated, spoke from lockup to Tim Burns of Mark Hatten Management and described the events of Mothers Day 2000, when he awoke from an intentional drug overdose administered to him by Howard K. Stern.

“I died for three days and woke in a tub of ice,” Mark said.

According to Mark Hatten, Stern gave him 2 morphine sulphate tablets while telling Mark they were aspirin. Hatten and Anna Nicole had both gotten tattoos three to four days before Mother’s Day 2000. Mark, while in a lot of pain from his Angel tattoo, was recovering at the house he shared with Smith and her son Daniel when Howard K. Stern gave him the drugs and misled him about what they were. Hatten believes he was in a drug-induced coma for at least three days during which time Stern continued to give him injections.

Mark said, ” Daniel Wayne told me later that Howard kept giving me “medicine” while I was out of it. Anna nursed me back to health.”

In a letter received by Tim Burns, Hatten continues to accuse Howard K. Stern of attempted murder. “Howard is a sick, sadistic, jealous control freak and predator,” Mark “Hollywood” Hatten writes. Mark Hatten believes he is in state prison as a direct result of Howard K. Stern and the “wicked lies” he told to remove Mark from Anna Nicole Smith’s life. In a copy of Hatten’s Official Statement, Mark tells the world that he believes the potential gain of the billion dollar fortune currently in a Texas Probate Court, was the motivation to send him to prison. Hatten is scheduled to be released from prison on December 24, 2007.
