The Top 15 Super Bowl TV Commercials – Continued

Entries 6 through 10

10. Apple Machintosh 1984 (1984)

This one was directed by Ridley Scott, believe it or not. A perennial favorite, the funniest thing about this commercial is how completely self-important it is. Jesus, it’s a damn computer, for Chrissakes. Reminds us of the great Mr. Show Spoof Mustardayonnaise. Are You a Two Jar Slave? Let’s get the hell outta here!

9. Apple – Lemmings (1985)

This was Apple’s followup to the 1984 commercial. We love this commercial. Certain “others” have taken it upon themselves to declare this the worst super bowl commercial ever. They’re retarded. This is wonderfully dark cinema, too good to be a simple commercial ad. The irony here is that in 2011, it seems like the Apple users have now become the lemmings.

8. Holiday Inn – Bob Johnson (1997)

This was seen as a failure, but we like the all-inclusive message. And that message is: Holiday Inn is a place where post-op trannies are welcome. Wonderful!

7. E*Trade – What a Waste (1999)

We like this commercial because it’s one of the very few commercials to tell the truth about super bowl advertising. Yes, we’re cynical.

6. Nationwide: Keven Federline Rap Commercial (2007)

This Nationwide commercial featuring everyone’s favorite whipping boy Keven Federline is damn funny. We’re glad to see K-Fed has a sense of humor. We remember MC Hammer doing something similar for Nationwide. By the way, the National Restaurant Association has complained that the ad is an insult to restaurant industry workers. Shut up and get us our supersize fries.
