Marsha Hunt – The Other Side of Midnight (1977)

posted by Chris Valentine

Peter Bellotte, the British songwriter and producer who was honored at the Dance Music Hall of Fame a few years back, is famous for his work with Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder. He has worked with Janet Jackson, Elton John, Cliff Richard, and Shalamar, but is best known for Summer’s ‘Hot Stuff’, ‘I Feel Love’ and ‘Love to Love You Baby’.

He also produced this record by Marsha Hunt called The Other Side of Midnight.

The question I have is: is this the same Marsha Hunt who lived in swinging 60s London? The actress, model, and singer who had a child with Mick Jagger and inspired him to write Brown Sugar?

Anybody out there know the answer?

In the meantime, I’ll just continue to enjoy this disco classic, which I first heard on the 1978 Discotizer mix from Deep House Page.

By the way, I have been hooked on these discotizer mixes (1 2) ever since I first heard them a few years ago and I have been trying to get all the songs on them in vinyl ever since. And yes, I currently own the Magnet Records version of The Other Side of Midnight (“Heartache” on the B-side).
