Banned From the UK Includes Michael Savage and Fred Phelps

According to the UK Independent, sixteen people have banned from entering the UK for views and/or behavior that is considered intolerable.

Michael Savage

The list of the 16 “least wanted” includes radio talk show host Michael Savage, real name Michael Weiner. “This is someone who has fallen into the category of fomenting hatred, of such extreme views and expressing them in such a way that it is actually likely to cause inter-community tension or even violence if that person were allowed into the country,” Ms Smith told BBC Breakfast.

Some, including Savage himself, have characterized his views as conservative nationalism. Consequently, he outspokenly opposes illegal immigration to the United States, supports the English-only movement, and claims that liberalism and same-sex marriage are degrading American culture.

Savage runs the Savage Nation, which can usually be found on your AM dial at night. Trivia: Savage has two master’s degrees in ethnobotany and anthropology from the University of Hawaii, and a Ph.D. in nutritional ethnomedicine from the University of California, Berkeley. His son Russell Weiner created the Rockstar Energy Drink and runs the company out of Vegas.

Fred Phelps and Shirley Phelps-Roper

Also named are American Baptist pastor Fred Waldron Phelps Snr and his daughter Shirley Phelps-Roper, who have picketed the funerals of Aids victims and claimed the deaths of US soldiers are a punishment for US tolerance of homosexuality.

Fred Waldron Phelps, Sr. is an American pastor of the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), based in Topeka, Kansas. He and his family (including daughter Shirley Phelps-Roper) are currently notorious for their anti-gay protests, claiming that most natural disasters and terrorist attacks are God’s punishment for a society that tolerates homosexuality. He is known for the slogans “God Hates Fags“, “Thank God for Dead Soldiers”, “America Is Doomed” and “Priests Rape Boys.”

Hamas MP and Cleric Yunis Al-Astal has said incendiary things like “We Will Conquer Rome, and from There Continue to Conquer the Two Americas and Eastern Europe.”

Mike Guzofsky

Considered a Jewish extremist, Guzovsky belongs to Kahanism, which is a movement that believes in the idea that the State of Israel should defend itself against Arab and Nazi enemies, and thus should accord full citizenship exclusively to Jews, and that all gentiles should be accorded equal rights except voting provided they accept Jewish religious law. American white nationalist Don Black is also a former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard. He is the founder and current webmaster of the Stormfront internet forum. He was a member of the American Nazi Party in the 70s and was convicted in 1981 for attempted armed overthrow of the Dominican government in violation of the U.S. Neutrality Act.

Neo-Nazi Gliebe used to be a boxer who called himself “The Aryan Barbarian.” He is CEO and acting Chairman of the National Alliance, a white separatist political organization.

Artur Ryno and Pavel Skachevsky

Ryno and Skachevsky are the former leaders of a violent Russian skinhead gang which committed 20 racially motivated murders. Both are currently in prison. When they were arrested for killing an Armenian businessman in 2007, who was stabbed 20 times in Moscow, Ryno himself pleaded guilty to 37 murders.

“If people have so clearly overstepped the mark in terms of the way not just that they are talking but the sort of attitudes that they are expressing to the extent that we think that this is likely to cause or have the potential to cause violence or inter-community tension in this country, then actually I think the right thing is not to let them into the country in the first place. Not to open the stable door then try to close it later,” Ms Smith said. “It’s a privilege to come to this country. There are certain behaviors that mean you forfeit that privilege.”
