I Am Completely Shocked About Don Imus

Don Imus Refers To Rutgers University Basketball Team As Nappy Headed Hos; Loses Job Because Of It

Background: Don Imus, radio/TV personality, made comments on a recent airing of Imus in the Morning, where he referred to the Rutgers University basketball team as “nappy-headed hos“. His producer, Bernard McGuirk, called the team “hard-core hos.” and used the word “jigaboos”, presumably referring to the Spike Lee movie School Daze. CBS Radio has just canceled Imus in the Morning, effective immediately.

Well, you can say that I was very surprised to hear about Don Imus.

Specifically, that he was still around.

Don Imus

I mean – Don Imus? That radio dinosaur from the 66 WNBC days with Howard Stern?
That Imus?

Holy crap, dude. If you ask me, his firing is about 25 years late.

I sincerely hope this is the last time we ever hear of this incident on the news. Talk about played out.

And for the record: The question of whether Imus should have been fired rests with his bosses at CBS and no one else. Jackson and Sharpton are nothing more than demagogues and everything they say and do rings hollow. The girl on the basketball team who said she was “scarred for life” needs to grow up. Only those subjected to Imus’ radio/TV show are allowed to make that claim.

And now let us never speak of Don Imus ever again.

Update

Imus returned to the airwaves on December 3, 2007, under a new contract with Citadel Broadcasting. I’m still not gonna talk about him again… unless he says something really dumb. Then, you know – I’ll have to break my promise.

  2. Nappy headed hos are people, too.

And Don Imus looks like Nick Nolte’s mugshot.
