Every year, Canada has a seal hunt. When seal pups begin to molt their downy white fur at the age of 12ā14 days, they are called “ragged-jacket” and can be commercially hunted. (wow, short childhood!) One method of killing seals is with the hakapik – a heavy wooden club with a hammer head and metal hook on the end. The hammer head is used to crush the skull, while the hook is used to move the carcass. You are interested in this!
Naturally, PETA hates this with a passion, so they are always out protesting. Here’s a CBC news story about a PETA protester who was pied in the face by somebody dressed up like a dog:
Someone dressed in a seal suit accompanied the protester, Emily Lavender, 21, of Vancouver Island, B.C. However, in a twist, it turned out the person wearing the outfit was an employee of K-Rock ā a private FM radio station in St. John’s ā who contacted PETA in the morning and offered to help with the protest. Shortly after the protest began, Jason Mills unzipped the costume and started denouncing PETA and its protests in front of the cameras. Lavender then put the suit on herself and started to continue the protest when a van pulled up and a person dressed in a Newfoundland dog costume jumped out, pulled off the head of Lavender’s costume and pushed a cream pie into her face. After she composed herself, Lavender told reporters: “That’s OK, I’ll take a pie in the face any day to save a seal.”

Lots of costume switching going on – wacky!

Newfoundland dog has no comment.
Here’s the K-Rock Video:

K-Rock Says: FYI we had nothing to do with the Salty Dog/Pie incident. That happened well after our prank was revealed.
Right, dudes. That’s a KROCK.
