Chinese Porn: The Edison Chen Scandal

An Oldie, But A Goodie:

Last year, and we don’t know how the hell we missed this, there was a huge scandal in China involving a popular actor and various actresses in the Hong Kong entertainment industry. The guy’s name was Edison Chen. Chen was a Chinese-Canadian actor living in Hong Kong (he was in Infernal Affairs, which was remade into The Departed), who was also a rapper, singer (Cantopop), model producer, fashion designer… the guy was an all-around icon, sort of like our version of Sean Puffy Combs. However, in 2008 he became involved in a sex photo scandal that featured private photos of himself with various other babes, like actresses Gillian Chung, Bobo Chan, and Cecilia Cheung. These photos were distributed over the net. In many media cases, it got more coverage than the 2008 Chinese winter storms!

Hong Kong police were not amused, and used Interpol to stop the photographs from being spread. Ten people were arrested. And while a sex scandal of this magnitude would make somebody like P Diddy an ever bigger star in the states than he already is, for Chen it killed his career (well, in China, anyway). After making a public apology, he announced that he would be leaving the HK entertainment industry.

Chen’s biggest mistake was sending his PowerBook for repairs to some place called eLite Multimedia. On that computer was about 1,300 photos of Chen and celebrity babes that Chen said he had deleted, but anybody familiar with computers knows that when you delete a file you don’t really “delete” it. But we don’t want to get all technical here, we just want to show you the pics.
