Bad economy spurs egg and sperm sales:
According to the Northeast Assisted Fertility Group, the number of women filling out applications to donate eggs has doubled. The number of women asking about donating their eggs has jumped by about 30 percent at some egg-donor agencies.

- The women make as much as $10,000 after their eggs are retrieved.
- The number of potential sperm donors grow by 15 percent in 2008 compared to the previous year.
- Most would-be sperm and egg donors are denied.
From the NAFG Web site:
An ideal egg donor candidate is a healthy, college educated woman between the ages of 21 and 30. Repeat donors up to 33 years of age may be considered. She can be of any ethnic or religious background but should not be adopted (since genetic history will need to be known). She must be a non-smoker, free of hereditary disease, and possess the maturity and responsibility to handle the process. Furthermore, donor candidates must be physically fit with a BMI (body mass index) less than 27.
That pretty much eliminates most of America.
