A group of entrepreneurs recently launched a browser based on Mozilla’s Firefox browser that is designed specifically for African Americans.

Blackbird was developed by a team of African Americans and is said to provide access to “hard-to-find African-American online content”.

We have tried it out (we’re using it to write this post, actually) – its theme is a simple black/white color scheme. Seems based on the Mozilla code – it’s almost identical to Firefox, actually. There’s a search bar in the upper right corner called “Black Search”, and there are Video, Social Networking links in the top toolbar. More pics below (click to enlarge).
Ultimately, there is no real reason to use this browser. If you are looking for only African-American content, why not just google it, save your bookmarks, and change the Firefox theme yourself? Besides, we are starting to like Google Chrome which is extremely fast, despite some minor bugs.
