Horry Kow, Fukudome! Cubs Put Kibosh On Offensive T-Shirt

Your basic unlicensed sports product usually is a piece of crap printed with improper Pantones and the occasional spelling error. This one, however, drew the ire of the Cubs by taking a shot at Kosuke Fukudome’s Japanese heritage (and, additionally, to add insult to injury, was replete with a mock-up of Harry Caray’s eyeglasses):

Cubbies’ management was able to drop the cease and desist on the production of this one immediately due to the use of the team logo in the background.
At OddCulture we are more interested in why the obvious insinuations about someone named FUK-U-DO-ME were skipped over in favor of a bad slant-eye joke (maybe Abercrombie and Fitch will pick up on that at a later date).

These shirts seem to be selling very well. Are all the people buying them racist? It seems ok for Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in Rush Hour to make fun of Asian’s speech, but for Cubs fans then it’s racist? The people buying these shirts are Fukudome fans. They are not making fun of him, just celebrating the diversity of baseball.

Well, Sir Slickenstein,
You are quite possibly THE biggest idiot I’ve seen post a comment about this subject. Fukudome HIMSELF said the shirts bother him and degrade him.
People buying the shirts are idiots. They’ve killed 82% of brain cells and think “hey man! I know what that is! WHOOO CUBBIES” and then buy the shirt, thinking they’re edgy.

This reminded me of a shirt in Japan that had a white guy with horns and the words white devil. All the asians laughed and the whites (or gaijins) didn’t find it funny.
