The Wayne County prosecutor, Kym Worthy, said Monday she is bringing perjury and other charges against Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former top aide Christine Beatty. Worthy said that the two lied under oath during the whistle-blowers’ trial last summer when they denied having a romantic relationship.
A perjury conviction could bring up to 15 years’ imprisonment and force Kilpatrick to relinquish the mayor’s office.
