Brawl at Miami Edison High

Dozens of police cruisers rushed to Miami Edison Senior High School Friday morning after a fight broke out in the campus courtyard. It was the latest in a series of violent incidents at Miami-Dade schools this week. One man, possibly a plainclothes officer, was seen limping out of the school at 6161 NW Fifth Ct. At least one person needed to be hospitalized.
Several students, boys and girls, were seen being taken out of the school in handcuffs. Sixty to 70 police cruisers were surrounding the school. The incident apparently began as a peaceful protest, according to a teacher inside the school, but got out of hand. She said many were upset at the arrest of a male student in class on Thursday. ”They felt as though the way the young man was handled wasn’t proper; they felt it was too brutal,” said the teacher.
