Ok dudes, what happened was, well, a certain hosting company that I shall not name right now decided in its infinite wisdom to suspend my account.

So if you tried to go to Odd Culture you got a nice big fat “THIS ACCOUNT HAS BEEN SUSPENDED” page.

Naturally, they didn’t warn me ahead of time and it took me 3 Days of trying to work it out with their so called “Support” before I could be back online. Well, three days was plenty of time for me to figure out that Odd Culture needs a new home.

I guess what happened was when I posted the Emily Hilscher story, it started getting major traffic in a short time, which overloaded their poor poor server. They actually told me that the server “Crashed”. I honestly don’t know if they were screwing with me or what.

Anyway, the guys in “Support” are ok and fairly quick on turnaround time, but God help you if they refer you to “Billing”. Yes, the billing department is total shit and who knows if it even is a separate department. I only know what they tell me via email, because They Have No Fucking Phone Number. Who are these jokers anyway?

So now that I have migrated Odd Culture over to the new server I have started the process of moving all the other sites over as well (horrorfanzine, yuppiejournal, etc). I decided to get a VPS so I have more control over my pages and the general environment. It’s not a truly dedicated server but it’s better than the shared system - who knows how many people were on there? Apparently I got complaints about the server slowdown, being my fault. Whatever.

In addition, I just installed WP-Cache so hopefully the site will be a lot faster.
