Jason Brenner and the Full Monty
Written by Bill G on March 13th, 2007 in Florida, hot for teacher.
Jason Brenner is a Chorus Teacher at Lemon Bay High School in Englewood, Florida. He also happens to star in a stage production of “The Full Monty.”
CNN has the video.
From KSDK:
When Lemon Bay High School teacher Jason Brenner landed a role in the musical The Full Monty, little did he know there would be so much made of his bare behind. The show, now playing at the Venice Little Theater, is about laid off steel workers who strip to make a living for their families, and in the big finale there’s a nude scene. “If it were a movie, it would be rated PG, at the most PG13. You never actually see any frontal nudity. We’re not doing anything obscene or disgusting on stage. It’s very brief the time that we’re out on stage without any clothes on,” says Brenner. But Brenner’s bosses at the school district don’t exactly agree and gave the part time music teacher an ultimatum: Quit the show or quit the classroom. “My only regret in the whole thing is that he, none of them have come to see the show to make an informed decision,” he says.
The Full Monty is currently sold out at the Venice Little Theatre.

Jason Brenner’s Page at Lemon Bay High School:
Jason Brenner is a fairly new addition to the school. He thoroughly enjoys being part of the theatre and chorus department.
Brenner is currently the chorus teacher and musical director for the Lemon Bay Theatre Department. His favorite parts of teaching at Lemon Bay are the students that he teaches and the challenges that they present to him as a musical educator. Brenner enjoys nothing more than finding the musical talent inside each individual and bringing it to its full potential. He has inspired many individuals to use their voices correctly and confidently.
Brenner grew up and attended college in Randolph, Massachusetts. There he found his passion for theatre and participated in many shows such as “Smokey Joe’s Cafe” and “The Music Man” before becoming a musical director. Today he has musically directed hundreds of shows. His favorite show is “The Phantom of the Opera,” because it was the first show in which he participated. After doing this show Brenner realized what he wanted to do with his life, and it was then he devoted his life to the performing arts.
When Brenner is not busy at school working with and teaching his students, he is most likely giving vocal lessons or working diligently on a show outside of the Lemon Bay Theatre Department. Along with being the musical director for Lemon Bay’s Theatre Department, he is also a musical director at Venice Little Theatre.
Brenner would like to remind all his students to never give up on their dreams, and to always hold yourself accountable for you own and actions. Brenner is certainly not giving up his dream of being a theatrical teaching extraordinaire.
He’s also not giving up his dream of being nude on stage.

Follow your dreams! You can reach your goals! I’m living proof!

That is really preposterous that they could give such an ultimatum, after all don’t children see nude pieces of artwork more revealing that the nudity seen in this show?
Keep going Jason

Jason,
I can’t believe the school board made you choose between teaching
and acting. What right do they have to say what you do AFTER SCHOOL
hours. Besides don’t you teach HIGH SCHOOL kids, I think they know
the difference between a strip show and a theater show.
Good luck Jason.

Jason,
I think that the position that the school has taken is ridiculous. I am Head of Music at a high school in New
Zealand and last year I performed in the Full Monty as well (incidentally I played Dave Bukatinsky too).
Both my colleagues and my students were supportive and many found it funny and ribbed me about it,
but my moral standing in the community was never questioned and if it had been I would have done the
same as you. We are fully entitled to do as we wish outside of school providing it is legal, and likening it
to professional stripping is inaccurate. It is, as you you said, art, and the story line is such an uplifting
one and the nudity is minimal and tastefully done. I wish you well with any future shows and career path.

Firstly, I was not in The Phantom of The Opera. It was the first Broadway Show I had ever seen.
I’ve been music directing since I was 13. If you want to write and Article about me,
Please contact me and get the correct information. I also love the fact that you quote Eric Cartman from
South Park under my picture. That makes me really happy. Thanks everyone for your support.
Don’t worry Mrs. Johns I’m making you proud!!
