Teachers Gone Wild: Kirsten Kinley

“Hot For Teacher” goes horribly, horribly wrong yet again. Kirsten Kinley, 27, a special education (apparently, very special education) teacher in Howard County, Maryland, is charged with multiple sex offenses involving a minor after a series of encounters with a 15-year-old:
Scary eyes. Scary teeth. Still, has more poon than your average 15-year-old gets.
The Baltimore Sun reports:
Police say the two were introduced through one of his friends and engaged in sexual acts on two occasions — on New Year’s Eve 2004 and once again in January 2005. The two met each time at Kinley’s apartment, according to police. The boy was 15 years old when the encounters occurred, police said.
According to court documents, Kinley’s accuser told police that they chatted through computer instant messaging in early December 2004. Kinley asked him if “he was a virgin and then asked him to have sex with her,” the documents said.

Howard County Police have charged a Marriotts Ridge High School teacher with multiple sex offenses involving a male teenager. Kirsten Ann Kinley, 27, of 7525 Murray Hill Rd. in Columbia, was charged late yesterday after she turned herself in to police.
Police received a report Feb. 12 from a juvenile male that he and Kinley had engaged in sex acts when he was 15 years old. Kinley was a teacher at Hammond Middle School at the time, but the boy did not attend her school. He told police he met Kinley through a friend.
Detectives interviewed the boy, who reported that Kinley had sent him inappropriate text messages and sexually explicit photographs of herself. The boy provided police with some of those materials. He also reported that he and Kinley had engaged in sex acts on two separate occasions at her home, once in late 2004 and again in early 2005.
Kinley was charged yesterday with two counts of third degree sex offense, two counts of fourth degree sex offense and two counts of solicitation of a minor. She was released on $75,000 bond.
Kinley is the third Howard County teacher charged with sex crimes against juveniles in recent weeks. A teacher from Glenelg High School and another from River Hill High School each faced similar charges last month.

A former Marriotts Ridge High School special education teacher who police accused in February of having sex with a 15-year-old boy is facing additional charges of sexual misconduct with a second teenage boy.
A Howard County grand jury indicted the teacher, Kirsten Ann Kinley, 27, May 30 on three counts of third-degree sex offense in connection with allegations by a boy who told police he had sex with Kinley during a month-long period in 2004, when he was 15 and Kinley was 25.
On the same day the grand jury issued its indictment, the Howard County Board of Education voted to terminate Kinley’s teaching contract.
A second 17-year-old boy told police that he had sex with Kinley at her apartment on two occasions between Oct. 15, 2004 and Nov. 16, 2004, when the boy was 15, according to Howard police. The boy told police “he heard about Kinley having sex with male students from a friend” and that a friend provided him with Kinley’s online screen name, so that he could send her messages, charging documents state. After engaging in Internet conversations, Kinley sent the boy naked pictures of herself and arranged to meet the boy at her apartment to have sex, according to charging documents.
Kinley is free on $75,000 bond, according to a spokesman for the Howard County state’s attorney. Kinley could not be reached for comment. Her trial in the case connected with the March indictment is July 26. No trial date has been set in connection with the May 30 indictment.

Former Howard County teacher Kirsten Ann Kinley told the judge at her sentencing hearing in November that she was sorry she had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy at her Columbia apartment more than two years ago. “I want to apologize for the pain anybody had to suffer because of these actions,” said a soft-spoken Kinley, who cried throughout the hour-long hearing. “I want the opportunity to become a productive citizen.”
Howard County Circuit Court Judge Diane O. Leasure sentenced Kinley, 27, to three years in prison, with 18 months suspended, which means she is to serve 18 months at the county detention center.
Kinley pleaded guilty in August to one count of third-degree sex offense. The plea agreement prohibits her from any contact with the boy and requires her to seek treatment and counseling and to register as sex offender. She is prohibited from access to the Internet, which she used to communicate with the boy. Thomas Morrow, Kinley’s Towson-based attorney, said Kinley plans to ask Leasure to allow her to serve the sentence under house arrest and in a work-release program rather than at the detention center.
Kinley had faced additional charges involving a second boy, which were dropped after he refused to cooperate with prosecutors. Neither youth was one of her students. Kinley was the third Howard County high school teacher charged this year with having inappropriate contact with minors. The two others — Alan Meade Beier, 52, who had taught chemistry and physics at River Hill High School, and Joseph Samuel Ellis, 25, formerly a history and government teacher at Glenelg High School — are awaiting trials

Ok Twisted, I agree with you. If there are other victims they need to come forward. I am sure people will come forward claiming to be a victim of Kirsten, however, if it does happen, there may be false allegations also.
I dont agree with the fact that she can still earn a paycheck either. Until she is sentenced for these charges she will probably continue to do so. If and when she goes to the big house, im pretty sure the checks will stop. I dont know about Maryland law, but Pennsylvania law, there would be a good chance she could do some state time.
I dont believe the state system will treat her very well. Everyone hears horror stories of what happens to male sex offenders in prison, I can only imagine what the female prisons are like. If this happened in Pennsylvania, I believe she would more than likely get state time and end up in Muncy State Prison near Williamsport.
Kriner was an incident that shocked Emporium. Out of no where that happened and who was to believe the scout master was a sex offender. Hopefully his ass is in prison or dead. So now Emporium has a new scandal to talk about and will linger in the valley walls for some time or until something new happens and people forget about Kirsten Kinley and what she did to a 15 year old boy.

THE KIRSTEN KINLEY SAGA CONTINUES!
What is right and what is wrong? It is right that people talk about this and it is wrong if you don’t. However, others try to cover this story up or try to avoid it. It is worth talking about and so should be.
We know our local paper is scared to cover the story due to the feelings it may hurt or the attention it may draw to others. However, like most things that happen in Emporium, it will go unspoken about and will be a taboo subject for most.
Imagine if someone of the lower class committed these same sex offenses. The local people and paper would exploit that person to the fullest. For her to commit these acts as a professional is well out of bounds. She is or say was a public figure in her community and to the job she held. She is now labeled in our society as a sex offender and if found guilty of the charges she will have to register as a sex offender anywhere she goes. The question to be asked is what is she going to do for a living after she gets out of jail? Pump Gas?
Someone stated, “She is only human and she made a mistake.†Oh well, she knew damn well what she was doing. She sent him nude photos and what not. That’s a mistake all right, oops. She also created another victim of sexual abuse. Who in turn, could grow up to be a sex offender himself! So for those of you who want to “say a prayer for her and her family†go ahead, but you may want to consider praying for society.
We all know the 15 year old in this matter knew what he was doing. I’m sure he was bragging to his buddies he bagged a teacher and they either were jealous or spilled the beans for him. Tell me that if this crime went unfounded, they still wouldn’t be sleeping together? If you believe that you need to get your head examined.
In closing, so what. It happened and it is worth talking about. Everyone else is scared to. I hope she goes to jail, no skin off my back or my pocket. At least Pennsylvania wont be paying for it. I’m sure the girls in prison will love her. What goes around comes around I guess.

Tessa, That was a good post. you seem very knowlegable about the stuff that goes on in Emporium. I heard some of the rumors that you were talking about. I think alot of people probably do alot worse things and get away with it or people just don’t talk about it . Who knows. I always thought kirsten was a nice person. Don’t pay attention to all the gossipers. they have to have someone to talk about. You know what they say about people that live in glass houses. OC-I don’t see the update. I heard she got 5 years, but that really shocked me. The last article said the recommendation was 18 months.

Kirsten Kinley sentenced in Circuit Court to serve 18 months in the county detention center.
Judge Diane O. Leasure sentenced Kinley to 3 years in prison, with 18 months suspended, following Kinley’s August guilty plea to a single count of third-degree sex offense for improper sexual conduct with a 15-year-old boy.
In addition to her jail sentence, Kinley is prohibited from any contact with the boy, is required to seek treatment and counseling, must register as sex offender and is prohibited from access to the Internet, which she used to communicate with the boy.
