Out of the jungle but still lost, the daughter back home after 18 years - World - Times Online

My droog Thuja sent this to me, because she knows that feral children have been an interest of mine for just about ever.
What struck me as creepy/cool however, was this:
“Many Cambodians were forced to spend years hiding in the jungle during the genocidal Khmer Rouge regime and the years of civil war after its fall. In 2004 a party of former refugees who had fled into the jungle reappeared after more than two decades. They were clad in bark and leaves and had no idea that the war was over. Twenty-two babies had been born during their wanderings, several of whom had grown into adulthood without meeting any other people.”
In the 21st century, it’s hard to remember that it’s easy for us to devolve. Which is also why there’s this handy-dandy taxonomy of the eschaton (via Warren Ellis)

My personal favorite apocalyptic scenario would probably fit under #1:
God shows me the secret button that, when pushed, would make 99% of humanity sterile.
I’d hit it. Like Thor’s hammer.

Planetary Elimination? Those post-Singularity bastards! You can get computronium at your local drug store these days. I’m taking this up with the Intergalactic Space Council.
