Michelle Manhart in: Air Force Sergeant Girls In Trouble

Michelle Manhart, a Sergeant in the United States Air Force, got into a bit of trouble:

From CNN:
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (AP) — An Air Force staff sergeant who posed nude for Playboy magazine has been relieved of her duties while the military investigates, officials said Thursday. In February’s issue, hitting newsstands this week, Michelle Manhart is photographed in uniform yelling and holding weapons under the headline “Tough Love.” The following pages show her partially clothed, wearing her dog tags while working out, as well as completely nude. “This staff sergeant’s alleged action does not meet the high standards we expect of our airmen, nor does it comply with the Air Force’s core values of integrity, service before self, and excellence in all we do,” Oscar Balladares, spokesman for Lackland Air Force Base, said in a statement. Manhart told Playboy that she considers herself as standing up for her rights. “Of what I did, nothing is wrong, so I didn’t anticipate anything, of course,” Manhart, 30, told The Associated Press. “I didn’t do anything wrong, so I didn’t think it would be a major issue.” Manhart, who is married with two children, joined the Air Force in 1994, spending time in Kuwait in 2002. She trains airmen at Lackland.

According to her MySpace Profile, Michelle likes Def Leppard but doesn’t like drivers. (Makes sense for an airman).

We all have alot more to worry about in life than one person expressing her assets
The Air Force may have missed something here…

I”D FLY THAT

There is no issue with someone “expressing her assets” unless
that someone is involved in an organization that takes pride in
honor. What honor does she bring to the Air Force? There has to
be a line somewhere.

In case anyone is interested, I recently heard an interview with her on KLBJ in Austin. After all the hubbub over these photos, she was demoted to Airman 1st Class. Due to a rule that no one may be an Airman or Airman FC after 10 years of service, she was relieved from active duty (she’s been in for 13 years). She’s now in the Air National Guard, attempting to gain an honorable discharge. If she had been allowed to stay active duty, she would’ve been only a few years from a nice retirement.

Kelli A makes this comment about “honor” in the Air Force. I’m sorry, but I’ve seen very little honor in the other branches of service. I’m in the Marine Corps, and I suppose it just means we have a higher meaning of the word…
And honor has nothing to do with me looking at this picture. She’s an attractive woman and I’m alone in the barracks.

Madden, you are absolutely right about honor lacking in other branches of service. I too was witness to it (the lack of honor) when in the Air Force. Very sad indeed.
But you came off like the typical arrogant Marine we all know. However, you earned it.

She gets booted for going nude and we have generals who are aldutrous and sexually harassing subordinates and they are allowed to retire with retirement checks that are bigger than most enlisted make. What a load of BS.

I had her as an instuctor in basic and she is just as hott in person as she is in playboy.

When I was in Basic, she was my T.I., and I was an element leader, and had to work with her, and talk to her one on one alot. She is absolutely beautiful in person, but she was one of the most Gungho about the air force, she performed her duties every day with the core values of the air force, she was an asset to the basic training in lackland, and she will be missed. Flight 301 Squadron 332, VIPERS BITCH!

It realy is true that all the beautiful girls are in the Air Force; certainly not in the Marines or Navy!!

Shit i am in the marines and there is no honor here either every body is out to get every body marines killing marines back home and marines killing innocents here there is just no honor left in the US military . Period

Madden, visit http://www.militarycorruption.com before slinging mud at any other branch of service. In fact, any police officer can attest to a problem with gang bangers joining the Corps so they can later teach their boys how to kill cops. Lots of honor there.
Also, if you browse that site, you’ll notice stories of Marines getting busted for soliciting minors for sex, child pornography, drug abuse, so on and so forth.

Jake. Have you noticed that the editors are all associated with Vietnam in some way? This shows how they want to show corruption in the military. Hell… they must be those God forsaken hippies who protested the war. I don’t trust people who are pessimistic about every thing. Don’t let a few bad apples ruin the whole bunch.

And this is why I joined the armed forces, so I could see this. I never thought buying porn while I was on course was going to show me one of my superiors… man oh man, she can be my superior all she wants.

She was demoted and taken off active duty because her decission to pose in playboy, while it was her right, negatively impacted her ability to do her assigned job and thereby compromised the mission of the United States Air Force. Doing this willfully is more than enough reason for her to get the punishment she recieved. How much authority can she wield, or discipline can she enforce with a flight of 30 to 40 young male trainees who have already seen what is supposed to be an all encompassing authority figure second only to God, naked? She had every right to make the decision she made and has every right to bear the full brunt of the consequesnces, regardless of how stunning the pictures are.

Manhart is either very naive or was perfectly aware that her appearance in Playboy would have her discharged from the military. She says in the captions that “my lifelong goal is to be in the entertainment industry” and
I suspect that she just decided to take this opportunity to fulfill that dream.
Choosing to wait another 7 years to qualify for a pension probably didn’t seem very feasible and with good reason. How many actresses can you
name that broke into the business at 37?
PS I think her tattoo’s are disgusting.
March 8th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
She’s make people that live and served for the military look bad. She is not a example of the USAF.
June 20th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
I’d drink her bath water…

Nice muff! Makes this Marine want to offer my branch of service to her mammeries. You go girl - time to make the computer sticky again!
